Fox Glacier

Fox Glacier cave
Today, our road takes us between two huge lakes, Lake Wanaka, the fourth and Lake Hawea, the ninth largest in New Zealand.  We are actually driving along the opposite end of Lake Wanaka from where we were shooting this morning.  Both lakes lie in their own glacial valley in the Southern Alps.

El Morro, Sept 2017

Paso’ por aqui – ‘passed by here’ is what El Morro is a witness to.  We had passed by here late last year on the way to the Zuni pueblo to witness a celebration.  We stopped, then hiked the short trail around the base of tall sandstone outcrop.  We saw inscriptions from the Puebloans, circa 1000.  The etchings are primarily animals or symbols.

Yosemite National Park (part 1)

Tenaya Lake
I’m on my own now.  No instructor to answer my questions on lighting, composition, what lens to use and no one to set the schedule to be on the road by 0500!

When I registered for the photography workshop I didn’t consider going to Yosemite.  I didn’t realize how close it is to where the workshop is being held.  I have seen photos and while it looks impressive it was never high on my list of places to see.
